J. Steven Grist became the President of CornerStone Bank in 2014, succeeding his brother, T. David Grist, the founding CEO and President. Steve has served on the Board of Directors of CornerStone Bank since its inception in 2009. Before his role as President, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board, chair of the Asset/Liability Committee and was a member of the Executive Committee. Prior to joining CornerStone Bank, Steve had a private law practice in Lexington for many years that concentrated in trusts and estates, commercial and corporate law, and real estate. He served as Commissioner of Accounts for the Circuit Court of Lexington and Rockbridge County. A lifelong resident of Lexington, Grist graduated from Lexington High School, earned a B.A. with a double major in Economics and English from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law. He is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC). A dedicated community volunteer and leader, Grist has served on the Board of Directors for the Lexington Rotary Club, the Community Table and the Lexington Golf and Country Club and has been president of the Rockbridge Area Free Clinic (now the Rockbridge Area Health Center); the United Way of Lexington/Rockbridge County; the Lexington/Rockbridge County Chamber of Commerce; the Lexington/Rockbridge Jaycees; and the American Heart Association, Rockbridge Unit. He and his wife Frances have three children and attend Rockbridge Church.

Robert Dahl, a native of Cleveland, OH, graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Upon graduation, Robert played in the National Football League for eight years. Prior to joining CornerStone Bank, Robert was a Real Estate agent with Mead and Associates. He is a graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. As Executive Vice President, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Robert is responsible for managing CornerStone Bank’s financial reporting, performance analysis, shareholder relations and accounting areas, as well as risk management and human resources.
In the community, Robert is active with the Community Table. He and his wife Lynne have three children and attend Rockbridge Church. Robert is a founding member of the Board of Directors.

Greg Frederick is a native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University and earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia College and State University. Frederick is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, the Advanced School of Banking at the University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill and the Commercial Lending School at East Carolina University.
In his role as Senior Vice President, Chief Lending Officer. Greg is responsible for managing all aspects of the bank’s commercial loan portfolio, including oversight of loan administration and operations, credit review and adherence to applicable laws and regulatory policies and procedures.
A twenty-five-year banking veteran, Frederick has held commercial lending management positions with regional and national banks. Frederick was recently appointed Treasurer of the 2017 Rockbridge Regional Fair and Expo and is a member of the George C. Marshall Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America. In Charlottesville, Frederick was active with the Blue Ridge Mountains Rotary Club and the National Eagle Scout Association. He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Air Force Reserves..
Frederick and his wife, Alison have two grown children and reside in Lexington, VA.

Mary is responsible for overseeing the Retail Loan Portfolio for CornerStone Bank and serves as the Mortgage Manager. In addition she is currently the Bank’s Security Officer and Community Reinvestment Officer. Mary graduated from Parry McCluer High School and received a B.S. degree from Longwood University. She is a graduate of the Dabney S. Lancaster Banking Program and the University of Virginia’s School of Bank Management. Mary has over 24 years in the banking and mortgage industry, having served as a teller, retail lender, mortgage lender, small business lender, branch manager and a regional retail manager of multiple bank locations. Before coming to CornerStone in 2008, Mary owned her own mortgage company. A native of Buena Vista, Mary has 4 children - Caleb, Lexy, Logan and Kenton. An active civic and sports volunteer, Mary has coached little league basketball and softball. Softball is one of her passions and she remains active in the sport by coaching at Parry McCluer High School. Through the years she ran a fastpitch softball organization called Blaze Softball, which consisted of 4 teams: 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under and a 16 and under. Her efforts with the players helped Parry McCluer High School to win back-to-back state softball championships in 2016 and 2017. Aside from the championships, Mary has left lasting memories and life lessons with the many young women whose lives she has shared.

Frank is a native of Radford, Virginia. He was raised in Lexington, Virginia beginning in second grade and graduated from Lexington High School in 1984. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Managerial Economics from Hampden-Sydney College. After graduating, Frank began his banking career in 1988 and held positions in Retail, Credit, Private Banking, and Investment management with major financial institutions in Jacksonville, Florida and Richmond, Virginia before returning to Lexington in 1997 as a financial advisor.
He holds a Series 7 license along with 6, 65, 24, life and annuities licenses. He has completed training in ethics, information security, and regulatory supervision. In addition to his professional experience, Frank has served as a member of the Lexington City Council, Lexington City School Board, the United Way, and Rockbridge Regional Tourism Board.
He is currently a board member of Kendal at Lexington, Stonewall Jackson Hospital Foundation, The YMCA of Rockbridge, and attends Lexington Presbyterian Church. With 24 years of experience in the financial service business, Frank is prepared to work with you towards your financial goals.
